Urban and Country Lifestyle: Two Sides of a Coin
Pete Seeger says I want to turn the clock back to when people lived in a small village and took care of each other. With this statement, Seeger means that people in small villages have bonding between them and take care of each other. He wants to go to the past and enjoy the beauty and peace of village life. There are two types of living places majorly, one in rural areas and the second in urban areas. Life in both places is different but the basic living is the same. No matter where a person lives, he generally participates in a specific routine that revolves around his work life (Yuetter, June 27, 2018). People migrate to cities in search of better facilities, livelihood, and lifestyle etcetera. They leave rural areas and this lead to urbanization. Both country and urban life are similar to each other but in some ways, they are different from one another.
Country and urban life are similar to one another in many ways. In villages, people use to get up early to do their regular chores and in cities also some people have the habit to get up early and do their work at the same time regularly as they try to come home from work in the early evening. The city is known for its hectic, fast-paced lives. Country life, on the other hand, is celebrated for its ‘simplicity.’ This notion, however, often proves incorrect. Many people in the country, like farmers, lead extremely busy lives. Hence, sometimes country life is also hectic like city life (Yuetter, June 27, 2018). Another similarity between country and city life is that evil like poverty can be present in any society rural as well as urban. It is meaningless that it is a country or urban area. Although employment opportunities are more in urban areas because of industries but fieldwork is also present in rural areas to provide employment to people. Urbanization or living in rural areas this problem cannot be avoided
else people should be employed to avoid it. Rural areas are rich in agriculture which provides raw materials to industries in urban areas. Both rural and urban areas will have dependent, populations not engaged in any work that as the elderly population and children. As this population is not properly efficient in doing work. This is another similarity between city and country lifestyles (Emelda, August 18, 2011). It is believed that there are always certain values like belongingness that are present in rural areas only. This statement is partially true. As people in cities also have love and affection. Hence, it is not wrong to agree with the statement that cities and rural areas have many things in common.
Country and urban life have differences also as they are two sides of a coin. So, it is obvious to have some differences. Size of the crowd is the most significant difference one notices when they travel from a big city to a small town. This difference is better to be sensed with eyes rather than to be demonstrated concretely with actual data (Wang, Oct. 17, 2016). It is very easy to distinguish between a city and a country area by the means of its population. We can easily classify between these areas by using our eyes and ears. As there is a lot of noise and crowd in urban areas, unlike the peaceful and deserted nature of rural areas. Cities are a hub for industrialization. There are more factories and businesses, making the areas more polluted. Additionally, the increased population in cities makes the ground more likely to be marred by litter and heavy use (Slutsky, n.d.). There are a lot of industries and factories in cities while there are none in villages. The fields are present in villages which provide raw materials to industries in cities. Hence, pollution caused by factories is present in urban areas while rural areas are pollution free and healthy. Another difference between city and rural life is the presence of services and transportation. The number of transport in rural areas is really less than that of urban areas.
According to research, these numbers are nearly twenty including the transports like American Logistics and CSX etcetera (yellowpages.com, n.d.). Generally, the convenience of cities makes them costlier. Larger cities with more industry, including Los Angeles and New York, are more expensive than smaller cities (Slutsky, n.d.). So, these things make urban areas different from the country.
Both country and urban life are like one another however they are unique in relation to each other. The cities and villages have many things in common like the routine of people, fast-paced life and presence of poverty etcetera in both of them. In these ways, both of these are similar to one another but on the other hand, they also differ from each other. Population, pollution, and the presence of facilities and services in urban places make them different from rural areas. All these services like better transportation facilities are the cause of urbanization. City life is full of hubbub while village life is peaceful. If one wants to live in a place with better services then one should choose city life but if anybody is interested in peaceful and deserted life then one should prefer rural life. The facilities of urban areas result in urbanization. Hence, all of these makes similarities and some difference in the country and urban life.
