The Standard Overview and Importance
The standard reviewed is Building Family and Community Relations. That part of the early educators job is extremely important. As the research indicates, family support can help prevent such severe problems as chronic delinquency (Yoshikawa 1994, p. 28). Helping to bring families together can prevent many problems that children potentially face. When advocating the rights of children, it is also important to consider the comprehensiveness of the educators approach. Bringing families into the educational process is a sign of a competent teacher and of adherence to the proposed standards which are essential for the educator to be considered a professional (Feeney, Galper & Seefeldt 2009, p.124). Forming a healthy family relationship should be the focus when bringing up any children, including those of my own. Overall, it is necessary to understand this standard for anybody related to the early education.
The List of Five Questions
The questionnaire I have composed includes the following points:
How do you account for the special needs of the communities the children have grown up in? This question is important to better advocate the needs of children and their parents. Understanding what a teacher does to address peculiarities of a community he is working in is an essential part of assessing his work. Flexibility is named as one of the most important qualities for an early educator by the NAEYC (Colker 2008, p. 4). This question helps to judge the teachers flexibility as well as the comprehensiveness of his or her approach.
How often and for what reasons do you communicate with the parents during the course? This question will help me to understand how a teacher interacts with parents and whether that communication is effective.
How do you help to strengthen the relationship between the children and their parents? This question will help me to understand how the standard can be implemented and used on a day-to-day basis.
What activities do you propose to the families to get them involved in the education process? This question will help me to further my knowledge of the education practices and get some advice related to the education of my own children.
How do you explore the community and family circumstances of your students? This question is meant to figure out ways in which the teacher can acquire information about his students without violating the principles of ethical behavior.
Contact Information
The questionnaire will be addressed to Martha Goodwin, a local kindergarten teacher. Her email is [email protected]. I will send the question with the following message: I am doing an educational project and need the answers of a professional, regarding the approach to early education. If you are willing to help me, I will use your answers to explore the problems of educational standards and to further my knowledge regarding the early upbringing.
Conclusion
The standards regarding early education are essential to assessing the professionalism of the early education workers. That is an important part of advocating the right of children to receive high-quality education. Understanding those standards is a key part of identifying the problems of the early upbringing.
