I read ‘The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, a mix of Fantasy, Young adult, and Greek mythology. This book is set in the 21st century and is about a kid named Percy Jackson son of Poseidon the lord of the ocean. After he and his companion, Grover the satyr, arrive at Camp Half-Blood, he is sent on a mission to restore the divine force of the sky Zeus’ lord jolt. This book is likely probably the best book I have perused. My preferred piece of the book was when Percy battles Ares, the lord of war. I was unable to put this book down. Any place I went this book accompanied me. Rick Riordan Is a generally excellent writer and I love perusing his books. I can hardly wait to begin perusing the following one.
Percy Jackson is wonderful, it has 5 series altogether. I have read ‘The Lightning Thief’ which is the first book of this series. The book was adapted into a film by Chris Columbus and 20th Century Fox, under the title Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and was released on February 12, 2010. It has also won many awards. Some of the famous awards are A Best Book of 2005, School Library Journal, A New York Times Bestseller, etc. (Wikipedia, nd., Online)
This book is about a teenage boy named Percy Jackson who has special needs. He had got dyslexia and ADHD. He is like a normal teenager who hates going to school and doing homework. He is used to strange things as it seems to happen to him always. His life went upside down after he saw his mathematics teacher turning into a mythological creature. He then finds out that his best friend named Grover is a satyr and he himself is not a normal human. (Riordan Wiki, nd., Online)
The danger in his life forced him to go to a camp. On the way, he is chased by an ancient monster and discovers that he is a demigod, half-human, and half-god. Ever since his life is full of actions. He is launched into a world of monsters and gods. He is involved in several missions and fights with the demons.
The book tells us about Greek mythology. I loved this book because it shows the value of friendship. Reading this makes me realize that friendship is very important. In this book, if Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, and Grover, the satyr didnt help Percy then maybe it was impossible to prove him innocent and not guilty of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt. The book also tells us that you are never alone. No matter how isolated you feel, there is always someone who cares about you. Poseidon, the father of Percy never physically came for Percy during his difficult time. But he was always there in Percys heart.
Of course, there is also a disappointing side of the book the portrayal of the main monster named Medusa. In this book, Medusa is dressed in a burqa and I didnt expect to experience religious appropriation in a childrens book. This was one of the shocking and noticeable parts because amongst all the monsters Percy encountered Medusa was the most fascinating character. The story about her history was so interesting and enchanting that I could hardly stop imagining things in my head.
A scene that really moved me might be the talk between Percy, Grover, Annabeth, and Hades. The way Hades is presented in this book was amazing. It is said Hades is one of the 3 main gods. He was ignored and hated by all the gods and people as he was a god of the underworld/ death.
Perhaps, by the end of the next book I should finally have a favorite character, right? Well, my favorite character is Grover Underwood. He is the best friend of Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. Grover has stuck by Percy throughout sixth grade and has kept watch over him. Percy meets Grover at Yancy Academy and spends much of the time protecting him:
Grover was an obvious objective. He was lean. He cried when he got disappointed. He must’ve been kept down a few evaluations since he was the main 6th grader with skin inflammation and the beginning of a wispy facial hair on his jaw. On all that, he was disabled. He had a note pardoning him from PE for an amazing remainder since he had a strong malady in his legs. He strolled interestingly, each progression hurt him, however, don’t let that fool you. You should’ve seen him run when it was enchilada day in the cafeteria.
This portrayal discloses to us that Grover is like Percy in that he’s ‘extraordinary’ from different children at school, making him an outcast, much the same as Percy. He looks more seasoned than different children as well, making us wonder whether he’s more genuinely developed than they are. Also, finally, he adores nourishment a reality that will continually uncover itself throughout Percy’s story.
When Percy confesses to him that he only accepted the quest so that he might have a chance to bring his mother back from the Underworld, Grover sees right through Percy:
‘Look, Percy, I’m not as smart as Annabeth. I’m not as brave as you. But I’m pretty good at reading emotions. You’re glad your dad is alive. You feel good that he’s claimed you, and part of you wants to make him proud. That’s why you mailed Medusa’s head to Olympus. You wanted him to notice what you’d done.’
A totally phenomenal story grandly. As a book composed for youthful grown-ups, I didn’t anticipate that it should be as fun and connecting with a real grown-up as it seemed to be. Move over Harry Potter since Percy Jackson could beat you down. Brilliant-mouthed, pragmatic and fun Percy doesn’t go trying too hard to find something however he was brought into the world a saint, a mix of mortal and god parentage that he cannot control. In our current reality where saints are sent on journeys constantly and spent their lives preparing Percy is an uncommon much-needed refresher. I frequently dread perusing youthful grown-up books in light of the fact that the principal characters can be whiny and juvenile (like their crowd) which can jump on the nerves of any grown-up. Incredibly Percy is by all accounts for the most part liberated from self-centeredness and anxiety while as yet remaining youthful and reasonable. An awesome book without a doubt that makes them thank the divine beings I purchased the arrangement. Unquestionably worth the read!
Altogether this book is probably one of the best books I have read. I was always wondering what would happen next some parts were filled with fear and emotion and some were filled with action. My favorite part of the book was when Percy Jackson was proven to be innocent. I could not put this book down. Wherever I went this book came with me. Rick Riordan Is a very good author and I love reading his books. I can’t wait to start reading the next one. And trust me, I have a feeling that the next book will have more adventure and action.
