School teaches us a lot. It teaches math, science, and social studies but the most important thing it doesnt teach us is how to live a life after we graduate. We have a lot of responsibilities after graduation like taxes, mortgages, bank statements, car payments, and monthly payments in general. In some cases, the school does prepare us for after high school and it does not prepare us for after high school.
There are numerous ways that high school prepares us for actual work. According to an article by The University of the People, there is more than one reason school prepares you for the real world. The primary reason is it allows you to gain personal control of your life. It does this by getting your education you give yourself a chance to change your life for the better. you may graduate, and emerge as a manager rather than an entry-level employee. you may end up a CEO or shareholder take home profits and do notable things in life. The second reason is it helps make the world a better place. It does this since as you gain your education you will gain a deeper knowledge of whats right, wrong, and fair or unfair. As you expand your reasoning and critical thinking abilities, youll be able to observe those abilities in situations in your life. Youll be aware of your rights and responsibilities as a citizen. Youll make greater balanced personal judgments and over the years, youll apply these to society and assist to make the world a better place. The third reason is it gives you the skills required for employment. As you develop through a college degree, youll learn how to manipulate your time; the way to juggle numerous tasks at the same time, and how to interact with all sorts of people, from fellow college students to professors and industry specialists. These abilities are critical for the future. The very last reason is it gives you extended earning power. The latest examination from Georgetown College determined that, on average, college graduates earn $1 million extra in income over their lifetime. Another study through the Pew Research middle found that the median yearly income gap among high school and university graduates is around $17,500. Of course, if youre paying returned student loans now not all of this could be earnings. According to a different article by The Black Sheep community, college prepares us for life by giving us proper communication skills. school gives us good communication abilities by utilizing speaking to different classmates and teachers through projects and school assignments. conversation skills will help us later in our lives due to the fact employers in official life choose a person who has exceptional communication abilities. Another reason school prepares us for life is our problem-solving abilities. School gives us problem-solving skills by giving us several assignments and activities that we have to map out and solve. These assignments and activities require critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This will help us later on in life because it is one of the most important skills to have in your practical life, especially if you take on a management or leadership role. The last reason that school prepares you for life is Time management. School teaches us time management skills by giving us a full schedule of classes, a lot of homework, and after-school activities. Students have to fit all of that work into one day. All of this time management prepares a student for practical life where there will be numerous tasks to manage in a limited amount of time. According to an article by James L. Gibbs, the author gives us readers 1 reason that High School prepares us for the Real World”. The 1 main reason is Meeting Deadlines. The first reason for meeting deadlines is important because in school we have a lot of assignments and projects that are due quickly and that means you have to rush. When you graduate from high school, youll still be expected to meet deadlines, and many of them will overlap, like paying your electric bill, phone bill, and rent all on the same day, or finishing a project at work the same day as your family is supposed to come into town so you have to get things ready for them. Life is full of deadlines, and knowing how to balance them to complete tasks on time is an invaluable skill.
There are a lot of ways that high school doesnt prepare us for the real world. An article by Summer Wynn states that the reason that schools dont teach things that will prepare you for the real world is that most schools focus on academics rather than real-life skills to help students make it into college. Teaching students these important skills does not seem as necessary to schools since many real-world skills can be learned on ones own. Schools mostly focus on math, science, English, social studies, and language. The schools focus on these things to provide students with skills and knowledge. They also use these things to have students gain friendships and participate in teamwork. In some of these classes, they have group assignments. In the article Summer, Wynn asks us, readers, a question. But are students being prepared for the real world after high school or is there more preparation that could be done to help them succeed? After reading this and the article that she wrote I believe that the answer is no. According to an article by The Black Sheep Community, Students are taught subjects like history, science, and math when later in life they will never use them. They dont question why they are learning or what they want to learn, they just do it. they don’t have the time or the mindset to stop and think about what they want to do in life. Maybe someone could have talents that the school would not let them discover. School is doing this by taking up to 36 weeks of their lives. The students were never taught to explore their talents. They are given something that they must follow. They should be able to explore what they like, not be forced to follow something that they dont. The last reason school does not prepare students for life is their Lack of Skill. Students that just graduated from high school have no set of skills, they are uneducated on how to live in the real world. One of the biggest skills that high school graduates lack is the way money works. They dont teach financial or credit in school, which is a problem. Should schools start making some classes optional?
Most schools currently have options for kids to take classes that will help them with their future inquiries. I believe that schools should make some new mandatory classes which include a class that teaches you taxes and about the IRS. A class that talks about politics and economics in our current community and country. A class that teaches about bills and payments. I also believe that they should take some classes or courses of some of the mandatory classes optional. Like some science courses, social studies courses, and even some math courses. I dont believe that most people will ever use trigonometry or need to know about the Aztecs when they are older. I believe that if you are interested in the Aztecs or Trigonometry you should be able to choose to learn it, not forced to learn it. I think that this issue is important because I dont want students of now and students of the future to fail in life. After all, they have no one to teach them what to do after school. I believe that if schools are still going to have their mandatory classes they should help prepare the students for after school because everything that the students learn in a lesson should be connected. This was said by Andrea Huang who wrote: Does School Adequately Prepare Students for Life after High School?
In conclusion, I believe that schools don’t prepare students enough for their future endeavors in High School.
