In the case of Melton Library, situated in the Australian city of Melton is a space that is used by two types of people. These public groups consist of the mainland city residents, migrant students living in the mainland city as well as the students coming to study in the schools, colleges, and universities from the Aboriginal and Torres Island areas. This is the reason why this library space is converted into an education center for different people of different ethnographies (Alentejo, Señorans, and Matos 2019). These are the important cornerstones of a healthy community. The texts, documents, and features provide them the scope to find jobs, experience new ideas, explore medical research, and many other things. It has been observed that public spaces like libraries participate in the formation of the information identities of marginalized immigrants as well as aboriginal youths.
This space is related to the study and gaining knowledge where youths from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds visit and mix (Abashian and Fisher 2018). The library as is the space, is well equipped with physical books as well as digital books and documents, allowing the youths to choose the medium of their choice. Here all the youth groups show different behaviours. For example, students coming from mainland residents feel comfortable with using digital mediums like the internet and computer monitors to find books and read from eBooks or online materials (Aabø and Audunson 2016). On the other hand, the youths from aboriginal backgrounds show an inferiority complex to use the highly computerized infrastructure. They either take the physical books available and showcase the books themselves or ask the librarian to find the books. The migrant youths similarly found this hi-tech library uncomfortable initially as the seating arrangements they found to the extremely unique for which they are not yet ready. The main issue of gaining knowledge from any type of medium has been limited in this particular space because the initial understanding of the utilization of this space seems to be new to them.
The reaction of these youths to the space is different from one another. This is because the cultural backgrounds of these youths are different and so also their values and understandings. There are factors of misbehaviors of the mainland students towards the aboriginals and migrant students directly connected to the superiority issues relating to the mainland youths. These youths are brought up in such a society where they have no disadvantaged neighborhood or issues with getting basic needs fulfilled (Lee 2018). On the other hand, the migrant youths have clearly stated their problems with no proper scope for learning in their countries for which they have visited this place and admitted to the university. That situation is almost similar to the aboriginal youths. These students though living in Australia, have been deprived of many basic needs and hence cannot accept the sudden changes.
The utilization of the space like Melton Library through using computers shows the difference in the behaviors among the youths. Most of the mainland Australian students capture the virtual portals for learning eliminating scopes for the others. The cultural differences are implicit in their communication systems. The inferiority complex led the aboriginal youths along with the migrants to be deprived of their studies as they could not properly approach the librarian nor have the capabilities to handle the computer system themselves. Hence development of alternative culture is growing.
