In the story Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, The characters Candy, George, and Curley’s wife have unrealistic dreams given their circumstances because Candy wants to do things without them being taken from him, George has hopes to work for himself, and Curley’s wife wants to be a movie star.

The character Candy in Of Mice and Men has an unrealistic dream because he wants to do the things he used to do without it being taken from him. Id make a will and leave my share to you guys in case I kick off, cause I aint got no relatives or nothing& (chapter 2) Because Candy helped George and Lennies process to move faster with the cash deposit in exchange they would let him join in by move into and owning a farm with them. He mainly wanted to help and be a part of the group because hes old, and he knew If he stayed where he was the boss would be taken out because he couldnt do as much stuff with both his hands. One of his fears was to be taken out on someone elses terms. For this reason, candy still wants to live his life being able to do the things he loves to do without it being taken from him like his dog was taken from him by Carlson. Candys hopes were to be wanted and needed by others.

The character George in Of Mice and Men has unrealistic dreams given his circumstances. Because George had hoped to work for himself and to have the benefits of their hard work. It’d be our own, and nobody could can us. If we don’t like a guy, we can say, ‘Get the hell out’&An’ if a friend comes along, why we’d have an extra bunk, we’d say, ‘Why don’t you spend’ the night(chapter 3) George was tired of being told what to do and being treated in fairly so because of this, George dreamed of finding independence in having land. He believed they wouldnt have to keep a job they hated no more. They would have their fate for themselves, not anyone else ‘s. For this reason, George wanted to live his life working for himself able to do the things he wanted to do without being told by a boss to do it.

The character Curley’s wife in Of Mice and Men has unrealistic dreams given her circumstances. Because she dreamt of being a movie star. …when I was a kid…Well a show came through, and I met one of the actors. He says I could go to that show. But my old lady wouldn’t let me. She says because I was only fifteen…If I’d gone, I wouldn’t be livin’ like this, you bet’(Chapter 5)Curlys wife dreamed of living in the spotlight, she dreams of riches and being a star with men always around her and her never being bored. She wanted to be away from the farm and to live a spotlight life. Because she was the only female at the farm she was also bored so it gave her a lot of time to think about what she wanted in life. For this reason, Curlys wife wanted to live her life as an actress in the spotlight so she would be rich, and never bored.

The characters Candy, George, and Curley’s wife in Of Mice and Men have unrealistic dreams given their circumstances because they all want big dreams that are hard to get coming from where there living and who they are around.
