Mental health has developed into a common concept within the scientific community. Previous studies have shown that when considerations are made on public mental health, attention is given to resilience construct and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis (Kleber 1). As such, developing an understanding of the relationship between mental health and students performance becomes critical for research (Hernandez-Torrano et al. 2). The research proposes how to map the behavior of university students well-being by using metadata extracted from previous journals between 2000 and 2020. In order to better establish the understanding between mental health and university students well-being, the research will utilize bibliometric processes that describe and visually represents the existing literature on the well-being and mental health of university students.
The study describes university students well-being and mental health by examining the publication trends in the twenty years leading to 2020. The three objectives attributed to the research will be to identify the fundamental journals and research areas that contribute to the development in the field: two of them to outline scientific collaboration networks between researchers and countries, and three of them to recognize the underlying research intellectual foundations on well-being and mental health in university students.
The research will use a bibliometric research design to map existing literature on university students well-being and mental health within the twenty years. Data for the study will be gathered using indexes from the Web of Sciences, a multidisciplinary database that includes mental health and well-being publications emerging from distinctive studies (Mitchell et al. 98). The research will conduct a search strategy consisting of three parallel searches to generate a comprehensive corpus of mental health and university students well-being. The data will then be analyzed using the VOSViewer software to visually represent and examine the intellectual, social, and conceptual field structures.
