The purpose of this lab is to gain experience in setting up DHCPv4 and v6 servers. This project has 2 Parts:
Hands-on Projects from end of Chapter 7
Install and configure a DHCP (Windows) server in a virtual environment with a client (Windows 10) to receive a configuration.
Be prepared to provide documentation and screen shots of your activities. You must get through the 2 basic activities outlined above. If something does not work the way you expected, please add those comments to your lab report.
ACTIVITIES REQUIRED:
PART 1: Complete the following activities from your textbook on any computer in the CSET Lab:
Hands-on Project 7-1: Examine a DHCP Boot Sequence
Hands-on Project 7-2: Examine DHCP Renewal, Rebind, and Reinitialize Sequences
Hands-on Project 7-3: Examine a DHCPv6 Boot Sequence
Hands-on Project 7-4: View and Manage DHCP and DHCPv6 Lease Information
PART 2: Install and configure a DHCP server and configure a Windows 10 client to receive configuration information from the server:
Install a Windows Server 2022 and a Windows 10 client in Hyper-V Manager
Configure an internal network switch
Assign a static IPv4 and IPv6 address to your server (please use unique addresses and make sure it is not on the CSET LAN)
Add the DHCP Server role
Configure the address pool and subnet mask for the DHCP server
Configure the Windows 10 client to get the DHCP configuration for IPv4 and IPv6
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
You are to develop a lab project report that includes an overview of your goals and actions. Always start your report with an overview of your goals (see OVERVIEW OF LAB PROJECT), report and evidence of activities (include screen shots/captures) and summarize your findings of success and failure at the end or the report. Your report should be approximately 3 pages of single-spaced text with graphics (screen shots/captures).
