2018 marked the 100-year anniversary of the influenza pandemic. This global illness infected one-third of the worlds population with the death rate numbering at least 50 million. They may also reduce the risk of hospitalizations in the older adult. This would be especially beneficial for those over the age of sixty-five as well as those living in nursing homes and long-term care facilities as being at an already high risk level.
