In her case study concerning the issues faced in the C. W. Williams Health Center, Linda Swayne makes it clear that the recent changes in the organizational structure of the healthcare facility have triggered major problems in both the process of healthcare facilities provision and the management of the center (Swayne, 2009).
Among the key leadership problems that can be observed in the healthcare center, the lack of a coherent leadership approach and an adequate management model should be mentioned. The above-mentioned problem has led to major alterations in the financial strategy of the company, triggering a range of issues with insurance and the provision of primary care.
Table 1. SWOT Analysis (Swayne, 2009)
As the table above shows, the organization in question has a variety of assets, which it can use in order to address the threats that it is facing at the moment. To be more specific, the reinforcement of the organizations ethics, which is definitely the key strength of the C. W. Williams Health Center, must be considered as a tool for improving the services provided by the staff.
In addition, the health center staff should consider the means for the organization to smoothen the transfer from the primarily fee-for-service to a managed care environment (Swayne, 2009). It can be suggested that the heath care facility in question should enhance the key ethical values among the staff, at the same time introducing incentives and a more coherent schedule into the organizational environment of the hospital.
In order to change the current state of the hospital, it will be essential to incorporate the leadership trait of enthusiasm into the current leadership strategy adopted by the hospitals leader. The specified trait will enhance motivation rates among the staff and will help maintain high quality standards in the hospital (Swayne, Duncan & Ginter, 2009). In addition, the management principle of being cheerful and positive must be incorporated into the operational processes of the organization (Swayne, Duncan & Ginter, 2009).
As a result, the staff is expected to develop social responsibility in their daily routine. When combined, the influence of an efficient leader and the power of the organizational values are bound to have their effect on the staffs responsibility. Moreover, it is highly recommended that the company should reconsider its financial strategy towards developing an approach for costs reduction, seeing that the current financial state of the health center leaves much to be desired.
There is no need to stress that the C. W. Williams Health Center is in need for a rearrangement of its current operational strategies, leadership practices and financial approaches. More to the point, the alterations in the financial status of the organization may cause major changes in the quality of the services provided by the organization.
For the services quality not to drop, it is essential to adopt a more adequate leadership approach, which will help enhance the motivation of the staff, and incorporate a new management strategy that will boost the growth of the companys financial reserves.
