Subject: High turnover of nurses
Research Question: This paper will examine the underlying causes of nursing turnover and identify the effects that this problem has on patients.
Claim: The ability of nurses to meet patients needs is largely dependent on their emotional and intellectual wellbeing; if their psychological state deteriorates, they are more likely to quit their jobs or even abandon their medical career; in the long run, this trend significantly impairs the quality of care.
Research Proposal: The growing nursing turnover has long attracted the attention of policy-makers and scholars. Researchers have adopted different approaches to the discussion and study of this problem. For instance, this problem has been analyzed from the perspectives of labor theory and psychology. However, the use of these theoretical frameworks may not yield valuable results if scholars do not fully understand the context of nurses work. In particular, they should understand what kind of challenges these pr

ofessionals face on a daily basis. Moreover, it is vital to apply rigorous statistical methods that can accurately measure the impacts of turnover on the experiences of patients. These techniques will also be useful in evaluating the influence of other factors on the wellbeing of patients. Thus, the adequate study of turnover requires the use of appropriate theoretical models, in-depth examination of contextual factors, and application of relevant analytical methods. If any of these components is absent, the value of research can substantially diminish. My thesis is aimed at reflecting the complexity of this problem; therefore, it is focused on several aspects, namely, the needs of nurses, perspectives of patients, and the causal mechanisms of turnover.

There are several difficulties that I may encounter while carrying out this study. Firstly, it will be important to measure the relations between the turnover of nurses and patients experiences. The problem is that other factors that can also have a strong effect on patients health. Thus, one should measure this influence and isolate it from the effects of turnover. To cope with this task, a researcher will have to apply relevant statistical techniques that are suitable for studying phenomena affected by various factors. Furthermore, this study requires a person to consider the diverse opinions of many stakeholders who are directly or indirectly influenced by the turnover of nurses. Therefore, it will be critical to review many studies that examine the perspectives of these people.

3 Source Collection via a Synthesis Matrix

A Synthesis Matrix is basically a visual representation of our collected resources. It shows the breakdown of topic to specific evidence. Please fill in the table below with your 3 collected resources (you should have at least one from this weeks discussion board). Some sources may cover more than one pro-point, while others just prove the one pro-point.

Source: Use an APA in-text citation 1stCon-Point:
The work of nurses includes such components as intellectual and emotional labor. In part, the growing rates of turnover among these professionals can be explained by the increased emotional labor.
2ndCon-Point:
The level of nurses satisfaction with their job is one of the main variables affecting the rates of turnover.
3rdCon-Point:
The rising rates of nursing turnover produce negative effects on the wellbeing of patients and treatment outcomes.
Cho et al.,2015 In their research article, Cho et al. (2015) point out that the absence of adequate resources and supportive leadership diminish nurses satisfaction with their jobs. In its turn, the declining level of job satisfaction is strongly associated with the increased rate of turnover (Cho et al., 2015). The evidence collected by Cho et al. (2015) demonstrates that there is a strong relationship between the mortality of patients and the policies affecting the work of nurses. In particular, the negative workplace environment that diminishes nurses satisfaction increases the risk of patient mortality.
Kim & Lee, 2014 The study carried out by Kim and Lee (2014) indicates that there is a statistically significant relationship between nurses willingness to quit their jobs and the level of emotional distress experienced by these people. Kim and Lee (2014) note that nurses are more likely to quit their jobs if they experience emotional fatigue on a regular basis.
Nantsupawat et al., 2014 According to Nantsupawat et al. (2014), the work environment can be described as a set of factors that influence nurses satisfaction with their job. Nurses become more willing to leave if workplace relations are not supportive of their needs.
