The rest of your life will continue to be busy and demanding as well. The importance of a strong support network within your family and friends is a key element of your success.

Step two: APA Prepare a 1-2 paragraph synopsis of your thoughts and reactions regarding the scenario.
Part 2 Self-advocacyStep one: Conduct a self-advocacy conversation regarding your needs with a family member, friend, or other support person.
For the conversation, develop the following four steps:
Write down the key points you want to make in the conversation. What do you need to help your college experience be a positive one? Be sure to explain what you are doing, why you are doing it and what you need from the person.
Be sure to emphasize the win-win aspects of the situation. How does your support person also ‘win’ when they help you succeed in college?
Choose an appropriate time and have your “I need” conversation.
During the conversation, be open to feedback from your conversation partner. Pay attention to verbal and non-verbal cues the person provides.
Step two: APA paper: Prepare at least 2 pages of reflection in your response. Reflect upon the results of the completed conversation. Use the following questions to get started:
Tell us your “I Need” list. Explain the key points covered in the conversation.
Provide a recap of the dialogue held. Were you able to cover all your main points? Why or why not?
What was the emotional tone of the conversation? How were your feeling as you stated your needs? Based on your observations, what was your support person feeling?
How did you support person respond to the conversation?
Do you think that your needs will be met based on this discussion? Why or why not?
Submit the following (MS Word or Adobe PDF file):
Synopsis of your Thoughts from Part 1 Step Two.
Reflection of your results of the completed conversation Part 2 Step Two.
