The student will review the evaluation system used to evaluate principals or asst. principals in her/his district. For example, many districts are using Texas-Principal Evaluation & Support System (T-PESS) to evaluate principals and assistant principals.
Recently, the T-PESS Rubric was updated, and now they have one for Assistant Principals and one for Principals. Therefore, you can choose which position you will review for this assignment.

Also, the student will review the written job descriiptions for the position (principal or asst. principal) that she/he is researching for this assignment. The job descriiptions should be listed on the district website. If not, check with the district HR dept.
For peer collaboration, get with at least one other classmate and have a conversation about this assignment. Share with your classmate what you have learned from reviewing these documents and listen to what they have learned. You may choose someone who is on a similar or different campus level (elementary, middle, or high school).
Principal Evaluation Activity:
Review the appraisal/evaluation system–T-PESS or principal evaluation system your district uses to evaluate principals and asst. principals in relation to the written job descriiptions for this position. (Usually, you can find the written job descriiptions in your district’s website.)
What did you learn from this activity that you did not know about the principal evaluation system (T-PESS) and the written job descriiptions?
(a) How will this information assist you as an aspiring school leader/principal? (b) Why was this assignment helpful to you as a future school leader/principal?
What did you learn from collaborating with your classmate?
Students will need to address these questions separately as they are written in the assignment.
